So I’m finally back on my actual channel and not the National Autistic Society channel, so apologies for being away!:)
Although this blog is specifically based on Autism, like most people in life, mental illness is an uncommon yet a taboo subject. I’ve been through depression numerous times, in particular last year and as many people will know, it’s dam hard to come through it. Even now I get my down days which destroy every ounce of me.
Depression is one that not only I’ve gone through but numerous family members suffer from. The arguement is always that people are soley attention seeking or just need to lighten up, but that’s far from it. The lack of sole motivation to do anything what so ever, is truly difficult but having seen the impact that it has on my loved ones, I relalise the severity of it. On last experience the best thing to do is surround yourself with positive people who you know lift you up.
OCD: whether that be solely being incredibly organised or just having to do something in a certain way and only that way, all aspects of it can be life manipulating. How do you get over it? In my view you need to challenge yourself and put yourself in difficult situations to test yourself but that’s easier said than done.
I’m going to close this short post by questioning one thing, Doesn’t everyone have some sort of mental illness, whether it’s severe or not?? In my view everyone suffers from it in a small way whether they like to admit it or not.
